Yükseliş Elevator Co. is known for its cabins and doors, and the Ankara-based company can innovate its designs to fit a customer’s needs. One such innovation is the first-ever Rotating Elevator, a design that allows a one-entry car to turn on its axis, allowing passengers to enter and exit in different directions.
In classic systems, the elevator will perform only up and down movements. Yükseliş Elevator’s rotating design allows the elevator to also turn on its axis. In order for the elevator to be able to do this, the cabin must be fully rounded and the doors must be engineered so as to move radially.
Accessing different floors in different directions can be achieved in classic elevator systems, but this requires multiple entrances. This can create problems for the architect, however, as having multiple entrances places restrictions on the interior design of the cabin, and requires the use of more space in the elevator well. Thanks to Rotating Elevator design, the elevator cabin can access different floors in different directions without the need for more than one entrance. This makes possible a more-pleasing cabin, while also saving space.
The Rotating Elevator offers architects flexibility in their building designs when space limitations or other considerations come into play; however, the building must be designed in accordance with the Rotating Elevator.
The design of the Rotating Elevator was implemented by Selçuk Korkmaz, Manager of the Yükseliş Elevator factory, and his team, after the company received a request from abroad. It was shown at the Elevator İstanbul fair in 2009, where it attracted a great deal of attention from participants. It was exhibited again at the Langfang Elevator Fair in China, which resulted in sales to China. In fact, this made Yükseliş Elevator the first company in the Turkish elevator sector to export to China.
Those interested in learning more about Yükseliş Elevator and its Rotating Elevator will have the opportunity to do so during the Asansor Istanbul 2017 fair, where the design will be on exhibit.
